Episode Summary

Kristine Beese is on a mission to get a financial plan into the hands of every woman. You might be thinking, “How does she aim to achieve this?” By helping women understand how the choices they make today with their “now money” will affect their future money.

Kristine holds an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, an Engineering Physics degree from Queen's University, and a Professional Engineer designation. She also represented Western Canada at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships in the Senior Pairs category. Her journey from athlete to engineer to entrepreneur has been inspiring to watch, and she’s just getting started.

After 10 years in the finance industry working with institutional and accredited investors, Kristine noticed that the financial system didn’t meet the needs of women—not even the needs of women with a lot of money. If the financial system didn’t work for them, it certainly wouldn't for everyday women with less wealth. This prompted her to found Untangle Money in 2020.

In this episode, we discuss how an early experience with money inspired her to learn how to manage her own investments, what women of different ages are struggling with the most financially, the most common tradeoffs people in the “middle income” have to make, the Untangled framework, her Dragon’s Den experience, and more.
