Happy International Women's Day! This week's episode of $HMONEY Radio addresses yet another women's issue that's inextricably linked to personal finance: fertility. Mother, wife, physician, author, speaker and podcast host Dr. Lora Shahine brings her expertise to the table.
Dr. Shahine is a reproductive endocrinologist at Pacific NW Fertility, where she is a proud partner. Dr. Shahine attended medical school at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She then completed a four-year residency at the University of California at San Francisco and a three-year fellowship at Stanford University.
Since 2009, Dr. Shahine has been helping people build their families. Nowadays, she enjoys creating witty, educational TikToks for her burgeoning community on social media and fulfilling her clinical teaching appointment at the University of Washington.
On today's show with host Anastasia Barbuzzi, Dr. Shahine talks about financing fertility, common misconceptions and stigmas, infertility in the Black community, racism in medicine, and the impact of consumerism (think: endocrine disruptors) on fertility.
